Te Uru

Through its subsidiary company Te Uru Ltd, Whenua Hoko was the purchaser and joint developer of the ‘Te Uru’ Precinct at Hobsonville Point.  The name Te Uru means, to enter or go in, and is the abbreviation for Tai Hauauru, the west wind.  Whenua Hoko renamed the precinct to Te Uru when it was purchased.

Te Uru has an area of 9ha and is zoned for a mix of homes and retail, commercial and community facilities.  The Te Uru Precinct includes affordable homes priced as ‘Axis Series’ homes or at or below the median house price.  Overall, the Precinct is proposed to accommodate approximately 550 homes, most of which have already been built.

Ōkahukura

Whenua Hoko is currently developing a 9.5 ha land parcel in Albany purchased from Massey University in a joint venture with Fletcher Living.  The development is named Ōkahukura and involves sale of a sub-lot to the Ministry of Education for a Junior High School and development of 160 residential units over two stages.  Residential typologies include stand alone, duplex, terrace and two-level apartment product.  The Ōkahukura development includes rehabilitation of a natural wetland in the centre of the site.  In the design of both the residential development and wetland restoration, Whenua Hoko will ensure mātauranga Māori and the Māori history of the whenua and takiwā of the Albany area is incorporated.
